What Metta World Peace Brings To The Table For Knicks In 2013-2014

This off season the Knicks acquired Metta World Peace also referred to as Ron Artest by some. If you  know basketball then you know why the Knicks signed Metta, the reason is defense. Although he may not put up gaudy numbers or even be a starter he gives the Knicks exactly what they were looking for. Whether its coming off the bench or playing as a starter Metta is a tough wholehearted player who contains many intangibles in his game. Although his body may not be as fast or flexible as it was in his defensive player of the year in 2003 and 2004 he sill has that kind of mentality and knowledge which can prove to be helpful with a team that was ranked number 13 in defensive efficiency last year and possesses upcoming talent in Iman Shumpert and Tim Hardaway Jr. .Metta will definitely bring wisdom and championship experience to an already solid Knicks roster.

Metta brings lineup flexibility to the Knicks as he can guard the 3 and 4 position on the opposing teams. He definitely brings a tough body to handle offensive threats such as Paul George, Dwayne Wade, and Kevin Durants of the league. Not only that but factoring how injury played a huge role on the Knicks last year during their regular season and postseason they have a player that not only can space the floor with his 3-point shooting but someone who is a well respected defensive player.

The Knicks now have two former defensive player of the year award winners that knows what it takes to win championships. Tyson Chandler brings toughness in the paint Metta brings toughness on the perimeter. The Knicks are all about winning a championship this year after having such a bitter taste in last years second round playoff exit and you can't win a ring without defensive minded players such as Metta World Peace.
