Trent Richardson's Impact: Your Fantasy Team and Colts' Offense

On Wednesday afternoon, one of the most ridiculous trades I have ever witnessed went down between the Cleveland Browns and the Indianapolis Colts. The Cleveland Browns traded 2012 third overall pick, running back Trent Richardson, to the Indianapolis Colts for their 2014 first round pick. The top three picks from the 2012 Draft are as followed:

  1. Andrew Luck, QB, Indianapolis Colts
  2. Robert Griffin III, QB, Washington Redskins
  3. Trent Richardson, RB, Cleveland Browns
Now here are how they stand currently:

  1. Andrew Luck, QB, Indianapolis Colts
  2. Robert Griffin III, QB, Washington Redskins (2012 Offensive Rookie of the Year)
  3. Trent Richardson, RB, Indianapolis Colts
So, you're probably wondering a few things:
  • What happens to Ahmad Bradshaw?
Ahmad Bradshaw was brought into Indy to be the featured back, with or without Vick Ballard (now without due to Ballard's injury.) Now, with one of the most athletic backs in the game coming to town, Ahmad Bradshaw loses his starting job immediately. From a fantasy football standpoint, if you have Bradshaw, say BYE-BYE! Get rid of him ASAP! Trent Richardson WILL play on Sunday, therefore he's in your starting lineup. He will mainly be the goal-line and red-zone back, but that still gives him opportunities to score, meaning + 6 on your board. It obviously depends on who you have on your team, but you should most likely start him.
  • Trent Richardson for Week Three: Start 'Em or Sit 'Em?
Start him. He's going to play a good amount in the red zone for the Colts. Seeing two touchdowns from Richardson wouldn't be surprising, but it's not expected. This passing offense isn't going to use Richardson as much as most people think. Mainly, he'll get about 20 runs a game, and a couple catches out of the backfield.

For week three in particular, he'll maybe get a touchdown and twenty yards. FLEXing him would be the best option.
  • Why would the Browns trade away their best offensive player?
It seems like the Browns have entered a rebuilding stage..

The sign says "REBUILDING SINCE 1964"

Brian Hoyer is your week three starter Browns fans, have fun. Willis McGahee is the best thing that has happened to the Browns since.. well.. Trent Richardson. We know what happened there.
