Miami Scores Huge 21-16 Victory Over The Gators

After countless losses in big games over the last few seasons the University of Miami scored its 1^st signature win for the first time in a long time with a 21-16 win over rival #12 ranked Florida Gators. The win caught many people by surprise but Miami earned today's victory. Despite the Gators earning 413 yards to Miami's 212 yards the canes still managed to pick up the win to move to 2-0 on the season.

The defense a huge factor in the win today for Miami, forcing 5 turnovers and putting pressure on gator QB Jeff Driskell all day long. Led by linebacker Denzel Perryman they forced 3 fumbles and intercepted all day playing with UM swagger that so many have been waiting to see for years. What was once a weakness for the Canes is now a strength that ultimately led them to pick up a signature win over the Gators.

As great as the defense was the offense was really inefficient. Had the defense not played up to its potential the result of this game would have been different. They put themselves in way to many 3^rd and long situations and going 1-11 on 3^rd down conversions was a result of that. Duke Johnson averaged less than 3 yards per carry today and could not establish any type of run game today. As great as the win is for the program lots of things must be straightened out moving forward.

So with the big win over Florida the question of “Is Miami Back”? Will certainly be asked and to answer it I would have to say its a step in the right direction but this program has along way to go if they want to be considered “back”. This program is about National Championships and until “The U” can prove that they can compete consistently for elite status in College Football they won't officially be back.

I know I am a few Days late but My #25 and rising Miami Hurricanes put a beat down on #1 Duke 90-63. People were sleeping for to long and we put the College Basketball world on notice. If you didn't catch the game Miami pretty much dominated for the whole game and looked like a College version of the Lob City. It was the first win in school history over a number 1 ranked team.

We suffocated Duke on Defense and made them look like a deer in the head lights I thinks it's time College Basketball fans and “experts” Pay more attention.This team is deep and can beat you in a variety of ways but U already knew that.

When I sat down and planted my rear end on my living room couch Saturday too watch the Miami Hurricanes season opener vs. Boston College I had really no idea what to expect. I had a plethora of questions. How young are we? Who is gonna replace Sean Spence? And most importantly who is replacing Lamar Miller?  That third questions answer came in the Form of true freshman running back #8  Duke Johnson he had 2 back breaking Touchdowns of 54 and 56 yards. He displayed a great amount of speed and power. His ability to change direction at the drop of a dime had me thinking about all the old great Miami tailbacks who had that ability. This was hands down the BEST debut from any UM running back I have ever seen. At the end of the game his stat line looked like this.

7 carries 135 yards 19.3 yards a carry 2 Touchdowns

He was explosive and every time he touched the ball positive things happened for The “U”. He had a grimyness  too him that the whole offense seem too feed off of. When getting hit he would never immediately go down and pick up those all important extra yards you need to move the chains. On his 1st Touchdown where he ran for 54 yards he took what looked like it was going to be a 1 yard loss evaded a tackler charged up the field broke another 2 tackels accelerated with nothing but daylight and topped it off with a stiff arm for what I and the rest of canes nation hope is the 1st of many Tds for Duke. He was most definatly the best player on the field today. He was a huge part of the 41-32 Win for Miami. I’m not the only one who is taking notice of the freshman though. Lebron James Tweeted “Duke Johnson the truth out there for the u! True Freshman #SpeedKills” . Not even one game and the reigning finals MVP is a fan of the kid. Longtime Um supporter and former Rap artist Luther Campbell tweeted in plain English “Duke Johnson will be the greatest Running back in UM history” . That’s a bold statement especially when you think of all the great former running backs in the programs history. Clinton Portis, Willis Mcgahee, Edgerrin James, Frank Gore, Lamar Miller That’s a lot too live up too and overcome. I honestly believe though that as long as his head is on straight he has a great chance too join all those great names.
