Giving Thanks For The Good In Sports Plus Week 13 Thanksgiving Day NFL PIcks

Happy Thanksgiving
Does anyone else feel like every time they turn on ESPN, open up a Sports Illustrated, read the tweeter or just watch sports in general that the only thing being talked about is the negatives?

Whether it is; RG3 not progressing as a quarterback, Richie Incognito’s texting habits, Peyton Manning’s cold weather kryptonite, Kobe Bryant’s contract, concussions in football, A-Roids PED’s (allegedly), “Johnny Football’s” autographs, Ndamukong Suh’s dirty plays, Robinson Cano’s self worth, athletes driving while drunk and possessing “Hippie Lettuce” or athletes being accused of sexual assault it seems like the negative stories never end.

Honestly, The Informer is sick and tired of all the bad press.

That is why today, on the heels of Thanksgiving, The Informer is going to forget about the negative and give thanks for all the good in the sports world.

So without “Freddy Adu” here is what The Informer is thankful for:

Calvin Johnson’s complete and utter dominance of the wide receiver position.

Peyton Manning’s surgically repaired neck and his soon to be fifth MVP trophy.

Kevin Durant and LeBron James: Two once in a life-time NBA talents playing in their primes at the same time.

The Nebraska –Iowa game the day after we thank the Pilgrims.

The Informer is a sucker for extended greatness; therefore he is thankful for Manning, Tom Brady/Bill Belichick, Tim Duncan/Tony Parker/Gregg Popovich, Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant.

The NFL Memes Facebook page.

Andrew Luck in the fourth quarter of any NFL game he is losing.

Drew Brees to Jimmy Graham.

A.J. “The Sickness” Green becoming a free agent in two years.

Madden NFL 25.

Kobe “Black Bean Mamba” Bryant’s pending comeback.

Chris Berman and Tom Jackson doing NFL Sunday highlights on ESPN’s The Blitz.

Any time the Mannings, the “Da Bear’s” guys or Brett Favre make a new commercial.

Tim Tebow “Tebowing” his way into the Japanese professional football Hall of Fame.

Julius Randle, Jabari Parker, Andrew Wiggins, Marcus Smart and the 2013-14 NCAA Basketball Season. and for allowing a person to play daily fantasy sports (The Informer highly recommends everyone try this).

The greatness of “The Canon” Thad Lewis, Brian Hoyer, Scot Tolzien, Matt McGloin, Case Keenum, Kellen Clemens, Josh McCown, Ryan Fitzpatrick and every other third string, or practice squad quarterback, who has ruined one of The Informer’s picks this season.

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon catching everything in sight.

Green Bay Packers
rookie Eddie Lacy bouncing off would be tacklers.

The TNT Inside the NBA crew (Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, Shaquille O’Neal and the great Charles Barkley).

The Informer’s football and basketball card collection.

The Randy Moss #88 Marshall Thundering Herd jersey that is selling for under $70 on ebay.

(The Informer note - In a cruel and sad twist, the jersey has recently been sold and is no longer on the site. In related news there have been no purchases made to ebay this past month on my wife's credit card. The Informer is not very  "Thankful" about the lack of said credit card purchases.)

Moving along . . . The Informer is also thankful for:

Marv Albert, Brent Musburger and AL Michaels announcing any sporting event.

Michael Jordan and the movie Space Jam. Yes this one is old, but The Informer just introduced Space Jam to his daughters last night so he is once again thankful for his Airness, Bugs and Bill Murray.

Matthew Berry’s fantasy sports advice.

Paul George making the leap.

Every podcast or radio show with; Bill Simmons, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Scott Van Pelt, Jim Rome, Jalen Rose, Dan Patrick or Adam Carolla.

The pending December collapse from Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys.

The Seattle Seahawks HGH supplier . . . err the Seattle Seahawks home crowd.

Kevin Love rebounding the basketball.

Russell Westbrook driving coast to coast.

New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis.

The “Splash Brothers” Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

Cam Newton becoming a winner.

Last but not least The Informer is thankful for March Madness, Wrestlemania, the NBA Playoffs, the Royal Rumble, Randy Moss and of course Super Bowl Sunday.

Just for fun, here are some non-sports related items The Informer is thankful for:

Amanda Bynes twitter account.

Boy Meets World reruns on MTV 2.

Daniel Bryan’s goat-beard.

The Blimpie Best.

NBC’s The Blacklist

Any and all Miley Cyrus music videos.

David Blaine’s magic, Daniel Tosh’s humor and David Hasselhoff’s music career.

Dora the Explorer running continuously for 22 minutes without commercials.

Psych: “The Musical” debuting on December 15th.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

Most of all, The Informer is thankful that he gets to share all of his crazy sports, movie, television and random thoughts with all of you each and every week.

Oh yea, almost forgot . . . The Informer would be a lair if he didn't mention being thankful for spreads, parlays, teasers, backdoor covers, super-pick contests and all the fun that comes with making NFL picks 17 weeks a year.

With that in mind here are The Informer and The Question's Week 13 Thanksgiving Day picks.

The Question: Packers +7, Raiders +9, Steelers +3

The Informer: Packers +7, Raiders +9, Steelers +3

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving everyone.
