Joe Montana Is Not A Fan Of The 49ers Leaving San Francisco Next Season
Joe Montana is known for everything great about the San Francisco 49ers franchise. One mention of his name or site of his throwback jersey is sure to conjure up memories of super bowl championships in San Francisco. He is a huge part of the 49ers franchise and his opinion matters and he is not a fan of the teams move to Santa Clara next season.
Located roughly about 40 miles south from San Francisco the Niners name geographically won't be accurate as of next season. The former super bowl champion recently spoke out against the move stating that San Fran leaders made a “terrible effort” at keeping the team in the city. He also said that the team missed an opportunity to build a downtown state of the art facility so that the 49ers can thrive like bay area counterparts like the Golden State Warriors who are set to move into a new downtown arena and the San Francisco Giants who already are doing great at AT&T Park.
Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara will seat 68,500 people and will host the super bowl in 2016. One interesting fact about the seating arrangement at Levi's Stadium is that nearly 66% of the seats will be in the lower bowl which will be one of the largest in the NFL. The Santa Clara based stadium will be a huge face lift for a franchise that has been playing in a dump for a long time.
