Josh Freeman Signs With The Minnesota Vikings

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, Josh Freeman, has signed with the Minnesota Vikings. The one-year deal is worth about $3 million, and if you add on the $6.2 million the Buccaneers still have to pay him, he will be raking in over $9 million by the end of the season.

Freeman, 25, was released by the Buccaneers back on Thursday after an ugly feud with Buccaneers head coach, Greg Schiano, that seemed to be dragging on and on since the preseason. Freeman will most likely not start over Vikings current starting quarterback, Christian Ponder, but he will certainly get his shot sooner or later. The Vikings will carry a total of four quarterbacks on their roster (Christian Ponder, Matt Cassel, McLeod Bethel-Thompson, & of course Josh Freeman).

If Freeman ever gets a chance to play for the Vikings this season, I think he will be a much better quarterback than when he was in Tampa Bay. He'll have a great offensive line, arguably the best running back in the NFL - Adrian Peterson - lined up behind him in the backfield, and a whole lot of other weapons on offense. It was something that he lacked dearly while playing in Tampa Bay.

It'll be interesting to see how the quarterback position will unfold in Minnesota over the next few weeks. With Christian Ponder sidelined with a rib injury, and Matt Cassel playing as backup, Josh Freeman will definitely have them looking over their shoulders in the weeks to come.
