We saw a legend once again prove why he is the definition of clutch (Tom Brady's game winning pass against the Saints), we saw the Chiefs once again prove the doubters wrong and win their 6th straight (now 6-0 and one of two undefeated teams left), and we also saw the New York Giants continue to struggle as they lost once again to become on of only three 0-6 teams left going into week 6. What a week of football and what great story lines going into week 7! Lets take a look back at this memorable week of football and give our weekly awards and thoughts on each game. You know the drill! Lets start off with our NFL Week 6 awards, but more specifically our Week 6 MVP. Enjoy!
NFL Week 6 Awards
MVP- Tom Brady
Don't pull the classic "Oh why didn't the guy with the best stats get the MVP this week?" Really? Do you honestly think that the MVP of the week belongs to Andy Dalton (best quarterback stats in week 6)? Or Peyton Manning who failed to "destroy" the Jaguars? Now you could put up an argument for Vernon Davis being the MVP for week 6 but come on man! How could you not give it to Brady? It simply does not matter that he didn't get the best statistics of the week because he still showed how he is the most clutch QB in the NFL right now with his 17 yard game winning pass to Thompkins in the last seconds of the game. His late second heroics single handily won the Pats this game, therefore making him deserving of week 6 MVP.
Sleeper- Justin Blackmon
Just admit it...you expected no Jaguars receiver to do as good as Blackmon did against the Broncos Sunday. He is not to hot in the media and not a very well known player but that doesn't mean this guy isn't the star of the future. He went OFF against the Broncos (ya I know their the worst pass defense in the NFL but I mean come on... its the freaking best team in the league against the worst!). Blackmon had 14 receptions, 190 yards, but no TD's as the Jags lost 35-19 to the undefeated Broncos.
Best Game- Saints vs. Patriots (Patriots win 30-27)
It wasn't just the incredible ending that made this game so special, its that it was a close game all the way until the Patriots sealed the deal in the final 5 seconds of the game. It was one of the most intense and hard fought games you will see this entire season, and man what a finish!
Surprise win- Rams beat Texans 38-13
There wasn't really many surprise victories this week but I have to give the award to the Rams on this one. Its not that the win was to surprising for me its just the way that the Rams beat the Texans. I mean the literally destroyed them...they made them look like they were an 0-6 team, and were talking about the god dang Rams here! Come on man! That bad of a loss to the Rams of all teams? And dont go telling me that Sam Bradford and the Rams are a solid football team, even with 3 wins this season they are still garbage! Before this season I am pretty sure the Texans were labelled as Super Bowl contenders. I mean I didn't even see the Rams winning this big!
Worst Loss- Texans lose 38-13 to the Rams
Read the last award! Everything you need to know about why the Texans have the worst loss is discussed above! Rams embarrassed the struggling Texans as they lose in terrible fashion once again! Schaub goes out with an injury...T.J. Yates for the win! Just kidding! 2 interceptions!
Team that needs to rebound most in Week 7- New York Giants
No this is not going to go to the Texans...this award clearly belongs to the 0-6 New York Giants. I once again am finding it hard to possibly label this team with the word rebound because it seems that they cant do anything right! The offense is generating to many turnovers, the defense is clearly struggling against opponents, and honestly everything seems to be going wrong for the Giants. Who knows if they'll even rebound after their most recent loss (27-21 loss to the Bears), can they even get a win in week 7 or will they stay as one of the only remaining defeated teams in the NFL?
Worst Performance- Eli Manning (14/26 passing, 239 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT, pick 6 on 1st drive)
I don't even think I have to explain why Eli Manning was the worst performer in week 6, and what is the key problem people have associated with Manning's struggles with the Giants this season? Turnovers. Here is your proof, 3 picks in a must win game (how is it not a must win game? They dot have a single win!) Lets not even get into his embarrassing pick 6 on the Giant's first drive of the game!
